Comics Guest of Honor – Tom Nguyen

Tom Nguyen

Tom Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American visual artist who began his 29-year professional career freelancing for comic book publishers such as DC Comics and Marvel Comics from the age of 19.  Building his name as an inker, he has worked on major titles such as BatmanGreen LanternJLAFinal Crisis, and Superman: The Man of Steel among others. In fact, Tom was one of the creators working on the original Under the Red Hood storyline, marking issue #635 of Batman a highly sought-after key issue.

Tom has since quickly branched out into other areas professionally, such as pencilling, painting, and authoring two instructional books on the art of comic books.

Along with writer/artist Keith Champagne, Tom is the co-creator of the successful Kickstarter hit comic book The Switch and its recent sequel, “Electricia.”

In recent years, Tom has rebranded himself as an illustrator for television specializing in pitch illustrations, storyboards, concept art, and onscreen artwork (most notably over the past decade for CBS’s Big BrotherTBS’s WipeoutAmazon‘s Beast Games, TMZ’s Who the Bleep Is That?!, and Nickelodeon’s All That among others).

Tom is a 3-time Frank Frazetta Award recipient for career achievement, a 2-time Comic Books For Kids Award recipient in support of children in hospitals and cancer centers across the country, and a recent inductee into the 2025 Burnsville High School Hall of Fame
