Volunteers

WE NEED YOU!

MidSouthcon is a non-profit organization that is run entirely by volunteers. We need volunteers in almost every department we run. There are many opportunities available to volunteer at every level.

IF YOU PLAN TO BE A VOLUNTEER, DO NOT FILL OUT A CONVENTION REGISTRATION/MEMBERSHIP FORM. Follow the directions on this page instead.

To be a volunteer you must be at least 13 years old. Volunteers under 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian. All volunteers will be required to sign a liability waiver (volunteers under 18 must have their parents sign). If you want to volunteer for MidSouthCon 40 you can signup here.

Benefits of volunteering:
All volunteers who sign up and work at least one shift will get access to our Amenities Room for the weekend where we provide drinks, snacks, and a few hot meals.
Volunteers who sign up in advance get to choose their own shifts if desired.
All volunteers who sign up for shifts in advance and follow the registration instructions will have a packet waiting for them at Operations Check-In. The packet will contain their badge, their tshirt (if applicable), information and instructions, and additional swag* as available.
*swag items vary from year to year and are limited in availability; packets are filled in order of number of hours committed from most to least.

Volunteers who sign up in advance to work 12 hours will receive a free weekend membership.
Volunteers who sign up in advance to work 8 hours will receive EITHER a weekend membership for $10 OR a free MSC tshirt.
Volunteers who sign up in advance to work 4 hours will receive a weekend membership for half price.
Additionally, volunteers who sign up in advance and work 16 or more hours will receive a free weekend membership as well as a free tshirt.

You can sign up as a volunteer in person on site at the convention as well, though your options & rewards may be more limited.

BE AWARE that volunteering is a commitment on your part. Once you sign up for a shift you are expected to be at that shift on time and ready to work. Failure to show up for assigned shifts could result in confiscation of your badge and being banned from further volunteer activities at future conventions.
