Fan Guest of Honor – Randall Pass

Randall Pass
Fan GoH – Randall Pass

When Randall was a young boy he was hooked by the Robert A. Heinlein book Time For The Stars and has never stopped reading. He also started collecting books. He has so many boxes of books, he even sleeps with them! Ask him!!!

Randall was born and raised in the Memphis area. After graduating from Bartlett High School, he met Greg Bridges and joined MSFA (MidSouth Science Fiction Association). In 1971 Randall was drafted by the U.S. Army. After serving his tour he came back to Memphis and Memphis State University. He tells me he swore three things when he mustarded out: never to stand in line, never to wear a hat, and never to drink light beer. Well two out of three is not bad as registering at any convention requires standing in line. Randall has been a fixture of the Science Fiction community in the South ever sense.

In 1977 he helped at ImaginitzaCon, so he has been involved in EVERY MidSouthCon. In 1980 he married Donna, who taught down the hall from me and started me volunteering at conventions. She told me he was handsome and hot, and she was going to marry him, and she did. They raised four children in fandom.  Randall has attended and volunteered at conventions all over the south: From Little Rock to Louisville to Atlanta to Huntsville and many cons in between. He is a perpetual, dependable volunteer and is currently on the staff of Liberty Con in Chattanooga and of course MidSouthCon.

You will find him spreading the gospel of ‘Cut Throat’ Spades and drinking REAL beer, no hat and no line in sight.

Mostly Respectfully Submitted,
